All Grassroots Referees must complete an annual recertification.  Recertification courses are accessible through the US Soccer Learning Center.

2020 Recertification Requirements

Online Course

  • Complete all modules via the US Soccer Learning Center

In-Person Course

  • Attend a 2 hour classroom session
  • SafeSport Training (online assignment; for those turning 18 during registration year and older) – Must complete every two years
  • Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments (online assignment)
  • Grassroots Referee Certification Quiz (online assignment)

Background Check

  • For those aged 18 and older – this must be completed every two years
  • May take up to two weeks to complete and you will not be able to sign up for a course until it is completed – please plan ahead

If a referee does not attend an In-Person Recertification Course by the end of March, then the individual will not be able to receive a license to referee for the remainder of the calendar year.

In-Person Recertification Courses

In-Person recertification courses are typically offered December through March.  Registration closes one week prior to the course date. See all Upcoming Classes
