Dealing with Thunderstorms – Important Information
When thunder is heard and/or lightning seen, play MUST be suspended immediately and all participants, including referees, shall seek safe shelter. Do not stand under trees, bleachers, etc.! When possible, go indoors!
Play is suspended a minimum of 30 minutes after the last lightning or thunder incident. The suspension time resets to 30 minutes no matter how much time has elapsed. Never resume play or allow players on the field until at least 30 minutes have elapsed since the last lightning or thunder incident.
BE SAFE!!! Below is a good reminder from the Introduction to Safe & Healthy Playing Environments that all of us are required to review each year.

If there appears to be no end in sight for the thunderstorm, consult with both coaches on continued suspension of play or if the game is terminated. Either way a US Soccer Referee Report MUST be sent to the SRA and League detailing the temporary and/or termination of the game.
